Support Our School

HISD schools thrive when families and the broader community are actively engaged. In this section, you’ll find opportunities to get involved—whether by volunteering, joining school committees like  the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), or connecting with local community resources that support our students and school culture.

Volunteer Opportunities at Lovett Elementary

Welcome to your volunteer experience with Lovett Elementary and HISD! We are grateful for your interest in supporting our students, teachers, and school community. Whether you're helping out on a field trip, assisting in the classroom, or lending a hand during school events, your time and care make a meaningful difference.

As a volunteer, you’ll be guided by our campus VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) Coordinator and supported by Lovett staff as you carry out your assignments. Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the student experience—serving as mentors, chaperones, tutors, and role models who help foster academic growth and a strong school community.

If you’re interested in volunteering, including for field trips or other opportunities, please reach out to our front office or VIPS Coordinator to begin the registration and background check process.

Please sign up for VIPS every year.  Our campus goal is to have 100% of our families VIPS certified.

Thank you for your commitment to our students and for being a valuable part of the Lovett family!

LOVETT'S SHARED DECISION MAKING COMMITTEE (SDMC)

Our Shared Decision-Making Model is based on the premise that decisions that affect the school should be made as close to the school as possible, and that members of the school community who are affected by those decisions should have input into the decision-making process. The SDMC shall be involved in decisions in the areas of planning, budgeting, curriculum, staffing patterns, staff development, and school organization.

Upcoming Meetings

The Lovett SDMC meets quarterly @ 3:15.  The dates for meetings during the 24-25 school year are listed below:
