TITLE I OVERVIEW
Title I Schoolwide Campus
Definition
Title I, Part A is a program that provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. Title I is the largest program supporting elementary and secondary education in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Purpose
The Title I, Part A program is intended to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards, regardless of economic status. The goal of the program is to receive a high quality education and to reduce the achievement gap.
How do schools qualify?
- Campuses with a low-income enrolled percentage of 40%-100% are considered “school-wide” campuses.
- Campuses with a low-income enrolled percentage of 35-39% are considered a “targeted assistance” campus.
- Campuses with a low-income enrolled percentage below 35% are not eligible for Title I funds.
